Questions & Answers

My PC started sending sound to the wrong speakers!

If your PC is sending sound to the wrong speakers, it is due to something local to your PC and not controlled by turboDial.

The wrong speakers may have been set to be used by Windows rather than your headset.

To fix this, locate and open the Sound Setting control panel on your computer and inspect it to make sure it is set to use your headset when it is plugged in.

If you’re using turboDial on Google Chrome, please visit this page for instructions to choose your audio input and output.

I use FireFox and I need to get it to stop asking for permission to use the microphone.

This is a known problem in FireFox and should ultimately be resolved. In the mean time these steps will solve the issue:

  • Go to url        about:config
  • Search           media.navigator.permission.disabled
  • Click or set    Value to true

(This is documented here)

Sometimes when I call from ‘This PC’ the person I’m calling can’t hear me.

That happens to us too. FireFox seems to have a problem of losing access to the microphone when it has been active for a long time – days. The solution is to reboot the computer, and the best practice is to reboot your computer at the beginning of each day.

I have tried recording a new Leave Message recording and nothing happens – it just times out.

See the previous FAQ – FireFox sometimes loses access to the microphone.
